The Annual ICT Awards

The Annual ICT Awards are the definitive celebration of excellence in the Canadian ICT industry. They recognize the best of the best and shine a spotlight on the outstanding organizations and individuals who are shaping the future of our industry. The awards are presented annually at The Canadian Telecom Summit.

The Annual ICT Awards include the following three categories:

• Canadian ICT Employer of Choice Award
• Top Telecom CEO Award
• Telecom Trailblazers (of which there are three sub-categories):

○  Women Leading the Way
○  Building Technology for Good
○  Driving Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

There are three size classifications in each category:

• Small: 1 – 99
• Medium: 100 – 499
• Large: 500+

There are a total of fifteen awards available across the three categories, and three sub-categories.

1. Canadian ICT Employer of Choice Awards

Description

2. Top Telecom CEO Award

Description

Is your CEO an innovator, great communicator, a visionary, socially responsible, an ultimate warrior? They could be recognized as one of Canada’s Top Telecom CEOs!

The Top Telecom CEO award recognizes the top CEOs/Presidents in the Canadian ICT industry. This award distinguishes leaders that have truly made a difference in their company, community and the industry as a whole. 

The award measures the following areas:

  • Communication
  • Engagement
  • Social Responsibility
  • Trust & Respect
  • Innovation
  • Major Challenge

Submission Process

  • Fill in the application form by describing in detail, leadership capabilities that demonstrate why your CEO/President should be the recipient of the Top Telecom CEO award.
  • All submissions will be reviewed and the winner(s) determined by the award panel.

3. Telecom Trailblazers

Trailblazers are always leading, setting the example, and are advocates for change, innovation and building a better world for others. They are always coming up with new ideas, and are building the tools and support needed to succeed. Trailblazers typically have an innate sense of adventure and are willing to take risks, fail forward and figure it out as they go. They approach challenges with enthusiasm, and feel excited about the future.

Women Leading the Way (nomination process)

Description

Trailblazers who are leading the way are often driven by the desire to define a new way forward and create opportunities for others. They demonstrate tremendous perseverance, courage, curiosity, independence, self-confidence and hope, and are inspired by a sense of community and collaboration. They willingly share their knowledge, lend a helping hand and establish strong ties with other Trailblazers – all with the goal of accomplishing amazing things.

The Telecom Trailblazer Award in Women Leading the Way recognizes those who self-identify as women in the Canadian ICT industry for their leadership, outstanding contributions to the sector, and more significantly, for the new paths that have been forged so that others in the future may follow in their footsteps.  

Eligibility

  • Canadian based organization (could be a subsidiary)
  • Works in the ICT field
  • Holds a senior leadership role

Submission Process

  • Fill in the application form by describing in detail, leadership capabilities that demonstrate creativity, collaboration, risk taking, big ideas, overcoming obstacles, building a better world.
  • Submissions can be provided in first person or on behalf of someone else.
  • All submissions will be reviewed and the winner(s) determined by the award panel.

Building Technology for Good

Description

Trailblazers in this category are pioneers and innovators, and are often considered a first in their area of expertise. As leaders, they may encourage creativity, tak risks, and chang how we interact with the world by building better technology – by building technology for good.

The Telecom Trailblazer Award in Building Technology for Good recognizes organizations and individuals for their contribution to the ICT sector and the unique solutions they have implemented to make the world a better place.

Eligibility

  • Canadian based organization (could be a subsidiary)
  • Innovation developed in Canada
  • Private or public company, non-profit, NGO, Gov’t department

Submission Process

  • Describe the challenge, how the innovation addressed the challenge, and resulting impact.
  • Demonstrate how your innovation has had a significant impact on societal, environmental, cultural, global challenges.
  • All submissions will be reviewed and the winner(s) determined by the award panel

Driving Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Description

The Telecom Trailblazer Award in Driving Diversity, Equity and Inclusion recognizes organizations that have made a demonstrable effort to build a diverse workforce by recruiting, retaining, developing and promoting diverse employees. A diverse, equal and inclusive workplace seeks to educate all employees and provide accommodations to prevent and remove barriers for inclusive participation by all regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, political views, cultural background etc.  

Trailblazers in this category understand that there are many tangible benefits to a more inclusive, equitable and diverse workplace, which may include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Increased creativity and greater innovation
  • Faster problem-solving and improved decision making
  • Higher employee engagement and reduced employee turnover

Trailblazers who are driving diversity, equity and inclusion are promoting these efforts and initiatives both internally and externally, and know that if you want to truly build a diverse and inclusive workplace it needs to be incorporated into its policies and practices.

Eligibility

  • Canadian based organization (could be a subsidiary)
  • Private or public corporation, non-profit, NGO, Gov’t department

Submission Process

  • On the application form, demonstrate what policies, processes and structures you are implementing to improve diversity and inclusion within your organization. Examples of this may include, but would not be limited to, any of the following actions:
    • leverage diverse job boards
    • reward diverse referrals
    • have diverse interview panels
    • provide recruiters with unconscious bias training
    • create diversity friendly policies
    • reassess employee benefits
    • provide diversity training
    • establish diverse mentorships
    • build diverse teams
    • measure impact of efforts
  • if applicable, demonstrate how your innovation is helping improve existing technology(systems) to address imbedded bias with regards (but not limited) to inclusion, diversity, and equity.
  • All submissions will be reviewed and the winner(s) determined by the award panel
